SECURING AIR TRAFFIC AGAINST CBRN TERROR

The aim of the “Project Aether –

Air passenger transport security in the case of CBRN threat by terrorists” was to investigate situation awareness and decision making at the European Union level in the case of a complex CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) threat-related crisis situation on board an airplane.

The project also sought to identify prevention capacity against the use of CBRN material.

These aims were achieved through a careful analysis and simulation of an open-ended scenario with several development lines.

Project was a combination of 2 year applied research and full scale table top and live exercises involving EU SITCEN and several Member States.

The final conference was arranged at the European Parliament, more than 80 participants attended the conference, mostly from the Parliament and European public organizations active in the field of security.
